Corset Stitched

Corset Stitched centers the visual language of a corset—structure, seams, enclosure and contour—within a surrealist mixed-media composition. The familiar form becomes a point of departure for thinking about how bodies and boundaries are constructed.

Stitching can mark a separation, but it can also suggest that forms are being joined. Kimberly Nichole Reising uses that tension between constraint and transformation as part of her wider investigation of organic imagery and architecture.

Look for how the drawing moves between an immediately recognizable subject and a more complex system of surfaces, edges and relationships.
